Temporary signs must inform the user of the site situation, its location, its importance and the traffic conditions in the vicinity and along it.

In particular, it is necessary to ensure that:

The requirements imposed are actually justified;
The signs follow, over time and space, the evolution of the construction site;
Temporary signs are removed as soon as the construction site has been completed and permanent signs are restored.
In order to be memorized by the users, the signals must be spaced from each other by a space consistent with the speed imposed on approaching and along the construction site.

The table indicates the measures to be adopted for the positioning of danger and construction site signs, as required by the regulations implementing the highway code.

The sighting, stopping, reaction and braking spaces are also shown together.

The stopping distance is the distance traveled by the vehicle from the point where the driver perceives the danger to the stopping point.

The reaction space is the space traveled by the vehicle between the moment in which the driver perceives the danger and that in which he intervenes on the controls.

The braking distance is the distance covered by the vehicle from the moment it starts braking to the moment it stops; depends on the speed and the conditions of the road surface.
